Amazing Foldable Printable Dodecahedron | hackade

Debra Ansell of [GeekMomProjects] Fame came with a clean, 3D Design Which prints flat and then folds into everyone's favorite Platonic solid: a d12.

Why would you want to do this? Well, folding your 3D print gives you a third dimension "for free" without using up all that support material. Here, all outer faces of the dodecahedron are printed flat against the build plate, which is probably the best side of your prints. And embedding the LEDs in the resulting shape would probably be easier since they are all in the plane. And speaking of LEDs, we expect to see them here, in keeping with Debra's motto: "LEDs Improve Everything"- That part is up to you.

Debra notes that she prefers PETG instead of PLA for added strength in thin-printed hinges, and we bet your printer's tolerance will need to be spot on for the clips that hold the whole thing together Huh. (We'd be tempted to apply a little super-duper glue.)

As always with Debra's projects, here are some creative solutions featured to help you out whether you need a D12 or a D20, so take a look at it!

Thank you [Peter] for the tip.
