A Simple RP2040-Based Audio DSP Board

If you are one of those people who are into making electronics for the purpose of making music, then this Raspberry Pi RP2040-Based Audio DSP Project By [DatanoiseTV] may be of interest. Provided Eurorack is a FreeRTOS template application for creating DSP-based audio widgets for compatible synthesizers, effects processors, and the like.

hardware platform There's normal Eurorack connectivity, including MIDI In, Control Voltage (CV) and the usual 5V-compatible trigger. An audio output is provided for sending the audio to the system mixer or any other analog module. Additionally, a rotary encoder, some push buttons and connections for an OLED display are provided, allowing the creation of a primary user interface on the module, if necessary.

The application template is quite generic, however the project is intended to be used Vult DSP Transcompiler, Vult is a high-level programming language designed to enable the easy creation of audio synthesizers and similar, producing C++ code as the output of the compilation process. It's then wrapped up with RTOS goodies (though you don't really need them) on the RP2040 in the usual way, to drop via the handy USB-C port. So, if you're looking to move to a DSP-based Eurorack module for your homebrew synth rack, this might be a good place to start.

As the RP2040 is not the most obvious choice for a DSP application, Neither is ESP32 for that matter, but who cares? Many modern mics these days are capable of audio DSP, with or without dedicated functionality.
