A new FPS from the creators of Alien Isolation, a stylish trailer

Few people expected it, and yet, Sega still surprised us. Just a few hours ago, the Japanese publisher announced the existence of Hyenas, a multiplayer competitive FPS game developed by its lifelong partner The Creative Assembly. RTS fans know the British company, best known for its Total War series, but it's already experimented with first-person shooters using Alien Isolation. For Hyenas, it would be another attempt by the British studio to brush up against the rather baffling multi-FPS. However, the developers seem to be aware of the challenges, and executive producer David Nicholson is even very clear about the risks and problems of starting the genre:

For us, the most important thing for a shooter to succeed is understanding what players want and what they want out of the experience. We know we have an interesting project, but we also know that the current situation is not in our favor. To compete with the big games in the space, you need to know what players think as quickly as possible. If you are interested, we want to take you on an adventure. That's why, following today's announcement, we're also opening the first public alpha.

In Hyena, there are 3 teams of 5 players pitted against each other, knowing that each member has its own characteristics, knowing that the environment can sometimes lack weightlessness and be riddled with obstacles that complicate player progression. Artifacts must be restored. Even though Hyena is multi-FPS, the developers at The Creative Assembly still wanted to write a simulation scene. So we'll find ourselves between Earth and Mars, knowing that billionaires have settled on the red planet, while penniless people are left in a slum called "The Pit". The only things people really care about, and are willing to die for, are rare commodities, remnants of popular culture that they extract from the ruins and pile up in their Martian mansions. That's why they're called hyenas...
Hyenas is expected to release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One in 2023.
