Learn BJT from Basic to Advanced Level

A bipolar junction transistor is a semiconductor device that can be used for switching or amplification

This course covers BJT, BJT Characteristic, BJT Biasing Techniques (Fixed Bias, Collector to Base Bias and Voltage Divider Bias), BJT Amplifiers (CB, CE, CC Amplifiers), BJT Small Signal Model (Fay Hybrid Model), BJT Biasing Techniques Is related. Amplifiers, oscillators (RC and LC), multistage amplifiers and power amplifiers.

If we now connect two separate signal diodes back-to-back together, we get two PN-junctions that are connected to each other. Positive(P) or Negative, (N) terminal. The fusion of these two diodes creates three layers, two junctions, three terminal devices Bipolar junction transistorOr BJT In short

Transistors are three-terminal active devices made of different semiconductor materials that can act as either insulators or conductors using small signal voltages. The transistor’s ability to change between these two states enables it to perform two basic functions: “switching” (digital electronics) or “amplification” (analog electronics). Then the bipolar transistor has the ability to operate in three different areas:

  • Active field – acts as a transistor amplifier and Ic = β * Ib

  • Saturation – The transistor is “full-on” and acts as a switch and Ic = I (saturation)

  • Cut-off – The transistor is “full-off” and acts as a switch and Ic = 0

The word transistor is a combination of the two words Transfer Varistor which describes their functioning in the early stages of their electronics development. There are two basic types of bipolar transistor construction, PNP and NPN, which basically describe the physical arrangement of P-type and N-type semiconductor materials from which they are made.

The Bipolar transistor The basic construction consists of two PN-junctions that form three connecting terminals, and each terminal is given a name to distinguish it from the other two. These three terminals are known and labeled as emitter (E), base (B) and collector (C) respectively.

Bipolar transistors are current-regulating devices that control the amount of current flowing from the emitter to the collector terminals in proportion to the biasing voltage applied to their base terminals, thus acting like a current-controlled switch. The small current flowing in the base terminal controls a large collector current that forms the basis of the action of the transistor.

The principle of operation of the two transistor types PNP and NPN is very similar only the difference is in their biasing and the polarity of each type of power supply.
