Tony Hawk's Pro Skateboarding 3+4: Reasons for Cancellation

Tony Hawk's Pro Skateboarding 3+4: Reasons for Cancellation

Players have already seen the 1+2 remake of Tony Hawk's Pro Skateboarding, and it's only logical to expect to see another remake of episodes 3 and 4...

In the end, the second collection never came, and Tony Hawk himself spoke out to explain why the title wasn't released.

Remember, this project is in the hands of Vicarious Vision...except that the studio was sacrificed for the benefit of Blizzard. Last year, Blizzard lacked the manpower and resources to complete certain projects and decided to integrate the Vicarious Vision team into Blizzard. So the studio staff completed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 while working on Diablo II Resurrection.

The first compilation did well: 1 million sales in a few days and the best release of the series in the US…

Tony Hawk explained: "This was the basic plan: we launched THPS 1+2, then we did 3 and 4. But Vicarious got absorbed by Blizzard, Activision did try to delegate the project to other developers, but it ended...they didn't As confident as Vicarious, they took some advice from other studios, but they didn't like what they heard."

So there's no need to wait for any Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 right now. Acquiring Activision Blizzard should also shake up other projects within the entity...but who knows, maybe it's also an opportunity to reboot some ideas and bring skateboarding back into the spotlight.
