Kioxia releases the world's smallest PCIe SSD: 1TB is the size of a fingernail

Can memory cards also have SSD-level performance?

A few days ago, Kioxia released a new storage product, XFMEXPRESS XT2, which is between the size of a fingernail and a fingernail. The PCIe x2 channel is realized, the sequential read speed can reach 2500Mbps, the sequential write speed can reach 650Mbps, the minimum capacity is 128GB, and the maximum is 1TB.

Strictly speaking, this is not a traditional standard SSD solid-state drive product. It conforms to the JEDEC XFM Ver.1.0 protocol and is a removable PCIe NVMe storage device. Still high performance.

At 18 x 14 x 1.4 mm, the Kioxia card is only slightly larger than a traditional microSD card (14 x 11 x 1 mm).

However, there are also views that SD Express also uses PCIe NVMe, with a higher bandwidth of 4GBps. It is hard to say whether XFMEXPRESS will have a broad horizon and be recognized by customers in the future.
