Instinon got another chance. hackade

It appears that, sometimes, miracles do happen. few days back, An update captured Insteon's website, a company Which we covered in detail two months back. An entity described as a "small group of passionate Insteon users" has bought what was left of the company, and is working on getting the infrastructure back. Previously, there was no sign of life from the company's API. Now, Insteon hubs are coming back to life - or maybe, they're Inste-online again.

We Explained Revival of these devices without getting the company's IP would have been difficult because of stuff like certificate pinning and, of course, a plethora of proprietary codes. Buying a company that's going through liquidation isn't exactly end-user friendly, but it looks like someone sufficiently business-savvy has done it. new CEO, as reported by [CNX Software], Is a member of an investment committee - fair to say it would help. A more sustainable funding source is promised rather than 'sell hardware and then somehow provide indefinite services'; They're moving to a subscription model, but only for Insteon Hub users. Recurring payments don't seem that bad when it comes to paying developers and covering operating costs, and we hope this revival will be successful.

Nothing is mentioned about moving towards openness in software and hardware - something that protects users from such failures in the first place. The new company is ultimately vulnerable to the same failure mode, and could suddenly leave users in the dark as a result. However, we have our fingers crossed that the updated business model is purely for the users. least, Unlike the Wink Hub, Insteon's transition to a subscription model is better than the install-off option.

we thank [Itay] to share it with us! via [CNX Software],
